Hellfire

Hellfire was an amazing masterpiece novel that is a truly enjoyable, captivating read. However, the major problem I encountered with this novel is that I could not put the book down and didn't get any work done for the day until I finished reading the book.
Let me give you a peek into the storyline of the novel. US Marine Travis Deacon always loves catching some R&R. And he loves being in Wales to catch it, until his best friend, SAS Major Gareth Jones, dies in an "auto accident." When Travis asks too many questions about Gareth's death, MI5 steps in and tries to send him back to Afghanistan. Then, the international terrorist who killed his friend, tries to send Travis to hell.
It gets worse when Detective Sergeant Dee Jones, Gareth's sister, arrests Travis to find out if he’s involved. Together, convinced that Gareth was murdered, Travis and Dee search for the killer. They dodge terrorist assassins and British agents in their search across Wales for the truth. Suddenly, the murder investigation becomes a frantic race to prevent a terrorist attack that could change the world.
By the way, this book is an International Debut Dagger Award Finalist, and an Amazon Kindle and International Best Seller.

Nobody Bats a Thousand

Good Stories .... several really good and several that are different and leave the reader hanging and thinking .. but overall, a good book.

Revised for Kindle, Nobody Bats a Thousand is a book of stories based on reality. The opening story, “A Bar Story”, showing a typical Friday night seen through the eyes of a middle-aged bartender, deals with conflicts that arise from changing times and generations. In “Home on the Range” a college student becomes reacquainted with his uncle, a famous touring musician, who teaches his nephew to look at life from a novel perspective. “Victims of Circumstance” centers on a young slacker and the 24 hours surrounding his 21st birthday in which he stumbles upon epiphanies about life, sex and his Vietnam veteran father. This book of literary fiction contains eight finely crafted stories about ordinary people involved in unique situations, presented in a style reminiscent of Raymond Carver, Richard Ford and David Sedaris.

On the Beach by Steve Schmale

Perfectly suited for me ... just exactly my cup of tea writing...strong characters... I appreciate all the great emotions and plot ...felt as though I was on the beach...I liked the ending.

Twenty-something Lenny Decker is a man of few plans, and he seems to like it that way. Bumming around a sleepy California beach town, Lenny appears to live a life of Zen-like slacker simplicity. His days and nights are a seemingly endless loop of visits to the local bar and pick-up basketball games, punctuated by long stretches in his apartment with only a twelve pack, a bong, and a TV of questionable quality for company.

But Lenny has a thing or two to deal with: a near brush with success in his past has left him running for the comfort of a life where the stakes aren't just low, they're non-existent. Then there's the woman who sees past Lenny's stoned exterior and is challenging him in ways he hasn't been tested in years.

The Lobster's state of mind by Hovav Heth

I love short stories and find them to be very enjoyable to read. This book included 12 different short stories and all of them were very entertaining. I liked how the book was broken up so I could read a short story during one of my breaks at school or during my lunch hour. I found the short story on the stripper's love life to be very intriguing! I think that the author really put everything into this book and it turned out well. I also enjoyed the story about the pop singer trying to make a comeback. The settings in this book were wonderful and were based in Israel. I have always dreamed of going to Israel and felt that the author did a wondrous job of describing the setting. I would recommend this book and hope to read more from this author very soon.

Do Lobsters dream? Do they have desires? When we kill a cockroach, do we commit a heinous crime? This is the subject of one of the twelve short stories in the book 'The Lobster's state of mind',
This book also includes:
Eli’s Head : A story about a handicapped person's effort to rid himsself of his handicap by performing an unusual operation on him self
The Eulogy: A story about a has been pop singer trying to arrange a grand comeback for himself in an original way the stripper, a stoy about a stripper's love life. Eight other great short stories full of unexpected twists and turns ,enjoyable and thought provoking.

Sounds of War

New novel exposes grim truths about Operation Iraqi Freedom

‘Sounds of War’ tells action-based story about one determined man’s dangerous journey in war-torn Iraq

Readers are invited to get an insider’s glimpse at the experiences of one man searching for the truth in Thomas’ Ferreolus’ new contemporary historical fiction, “Sounds of War: Iraq Attack of Thomas Edington” (published by AuthorHouse).

Set in Iraq’s tumultuous Al Anbar Province during Operation Iraqi Freedom, “Sounds of War” recounts the adventures of protagonist Thomas Edington and his dangerous journey, revealing the horrors of war in the process. “It’s totally an original story of the unspoken truths,” Ferreolus explains. An excerpt from “Sounds of War”:

“Thomas had not even taken two steps through the other side of the hedge, when to his surprise, he found himself standing on a large Persian rug. Looking down in disbelief, he stood amongst a large number of sleeping bodies, all spooning and snuggling with one another. He looked to his right and noticed that the entire team had frozen in a silence statuesque pose. They all looked down in a complete and utter astonishment. Amazed, Thomas struggled with the reality of the situation. He felt as if he had just walked into a time warp. However, with what had seemed like several minutes, only seconds had passed when Thomas thought, ‘How ancient these primitive people look, all sleeping under the stares.’”

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols

Summary:
Gemma can’t believe her luck when the star football player starts flirting with her. Max is totally swoon-worthy, and even gets her quirky sense of humor. So when he asks out her so-called best friend Addison, Gemma’s heartbroken.

Then Addison pressures Gemma to join the date with one of Max’s friends. But the more time they all spend together, the harder Gemma falls for Max. She can’t help thinking that Max likes her back—it’s just too bad he’s already dating Addison. How can Gemma get the guy she wants without going after her best friend’s boyfriend?

Review:
Have you ever read books from one specific author because you know that no matter what they'll never disappoint and you love every single one of their books? That's what it's like for me with Jennifer Echols. She has a way of really connecting with her reader and making you so engrossed with the story you never want it to end.

Gemma is a character that I believe we all can relate to. What girl hasn't been in a constant war with their weight and constantly feeling like you're not good enough? And not to mention her "best friend"Addison who's sole purpose is to make sure Gemma is always 2nd best. I couldn't stand Addison, she reminds me too much of how girls are nowadays in high school and I kept hoping that Gemma would just tell her off and finally set her in her place.

I was a bit worried about how she would explain the whole "I like my best friend's boyfriend" thing but she made everything smooth and I didn't doubt Gemma's reasoning or choices throughout the whole book. That's one of the reasons I truly enjoyed this book. I loved that for once I wasn't getting annoyed with the main character/screaming at the book/regretting ever reading the book.

Besides talking about weight this book also brings up bullying, something that has become a national problem. All the characters in the story have had an experience with bullying, even Addison. Gemma is the character that got bullied the most and I love that we get to go through that journey with her and watch her finally stand up for herself.

The One That I Want is another hit for Jennifer Echols and I can't wait to read her next books Such a Rush and her new adult book. I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading a book that simple, perfect and leaves you with a smile on your face.

Melpomene

Melpomene – the name conjures memories of a distant and ancient past, of the Muse of Tragedy who inspires verses as dark as they are haunting beautiful….

This new release from Numen Books is aptly named. Reaching deep into the depths of the human psyche, it pulls forth both classics and rich new gems that shine like polished onyx and opaline tears on the shores of aesthetic boundaries, pushing them art to its very limits.

Packed with style, this book is broken into four components which are presided over by this shimmering and ethereal Muse Melpomene; Liber Veneficium (Book of Magic), Liber Maeroris (Book of Sorrow), Liber Fatum (Book of Fate), and Liber Mortuorum (Book of Death).

Each of these chapters approaches the content thematically, with the contents beginning with a mystical premise in the first chapter and culminating in the most tragic of all elements in the human life experience in the last.

The book contains carefully selected content from well -known classic authors such as Charles Baudelaire, William Blake, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe and also new popular writers such as Gwendolyn Taunton, Azsacra Zarathustra, and James WF Roberts.
